What to do in Old Forge in the fall?

There is so much to do on camp!

All weekend, you have the option to canoe or kayak on the lake, hike, play disc golf, ping pong, pétanque, or pickleball! On Sunday, you can also try your hand at archery. To participate, book a slot at check in on Friday.

Off camp

You may also want to explore the town of Old Forge or find a place to have a meal or drink away from the camp crowd. Here are some ideas:

for the Outdoorsy folks:

Hiking/Leaf Peeping

  • Bald Mountain [you can reach the trail head from camp]

  • Rocky Point

  • Moose River Plains

Paddling

  • If you’re looking for greater distances to paddle than the lake at camp, there are a ton of options! Old Forge is the “paddling capital of the Adirondacks”!

Biking

Railbiking. A group activity: one bike, many peddlers!

Scenic Chairlift

  • “During the fall you can witness nature's amazing show as the colors of the Adirondacks change. Pack a lunch for a picnic at the top and watch the deer as they wander in and out of the trees. Enjoy the tranquil beauty that is distinctly found in the center of the Adirondack Mountains.”

For antique-hunters/lovers of trinkets:

If it rains or you don’t want to be in the outdoors:

Check out Old Forge's historic cinema: The Strand Theater
